Your Questions Answered On Coming To See “Secret Wrapped In Lead” this July

Production News

Braw Clan’s first production, Secret Wrapped In Lead, goes on tour in Clydesdale this July and we’d love you to join us.

We’ve received a few questions about the show – read on for the answers or just get in touch for friendly assistance.

“How do I book tickets?”

You can book online here – it takes just a few clicks. You can then download your tickets to your phone or print them out and bring them along.

You can also book by phone by ringing 01899 220600, Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm.

“Where’s the play on?”

It’s on in Leadhills Village Hall on July 19th, Arts at Loaningdale in Biggar on the 21st and 22nd, Thankerton Village Hall on the 25th, Crawford Village Hall on the 26th, Roberton Village Hall on the 27th, Crawfordjohn Village Hall on the 28th and Symington Village Hall on the 29th.

All performances start at 7.30pm and you’ll find map links for our venues here.

“How much are tickets?”

Braw Clan’s theatre tickets are priced on a Pay What You Decide basis.

There’s no up front cost – you book in advance as usual, but without making a payment. After you’ve seen the show, you decide what you think it’s worth. This removes any risk of paying for something you might not enjoy. If you haven’t enjoyed the show at all, you don’t have to pay anything.

All money collected (you can pay by card or cash,) helps Braw Clan make more plays, so we hope you’ll give generously.

“Is this the same thing as the reading I saw last year?”

It’s the same play, but this time it’s a full production with fully rehearsed actors, costumes, lighting and music.

We put on readings when plays are in development because they’re a good way to let you see what we’re working on and gather feedback. The reading of Secret Wrapped In Lead received such an enthusiastic response that we applied for funding to do the full version.

Find out more about the cast and creative team who are working on the play here.

“Is the play suitable for children?”

We recommend the play for young people aged twelve and over.

“Are the venues accessible?”

Yes, all our venues are fully accessible, including toilets.

“Will I understand the play?”

Secret Wrapped In Lead is about Dorothy Wordsworth’s visit to Leadhills in 1803, so there’s a mixture of Scots and English in every scene. If you’re not sure whether you can understand Scots, find out at ayecan.com.

We often hear from audience members that it takes a few minutes at the beginning of a show to tune your ear in. Once that’s happened, many people tell us they’re amazed to realise how many Scots words they know.
