Together We Rise
Production Diary

Monday 26th June
Words can’t express how brilliant it feels to finally begin rehearsals. Now that the first day is done, maybe tonight I’ll find the elusive sleep I’ve been on the hunt for these past few weeks!
Just thrilling to hear Morven, Helen and Fletcher together, breathing life into Martin’s words, for the first time. And so helpful to hear and see them together.
I can now picture snippets of the play.
Pulling together the creative threads of a show is busy, exciting, creative work and today I got to share some of what I’ve been working on.
Paul brought in some props and it was gratifying to hear the responses to some of his handmade items. It was also great to share news on Jack’s sound design. He sent me a cracking piece of music at the weekend that I’m desperate to test with the changeovers.
We’re a while off that.
But being able to talk so enthusiastically about the different component parts brought such a positive energy to proceedings today. I’m ever mindful that I’m a first-time director, but as an actor I know how important it is to feel you have a positive and assuring director at the helm. Every day I need to give myself a pep talk. However, teamwork is everything and I know I have a great team working on this show. Together we rise!
