The World Of The Play

Production Diary

Written By Pauline

Follow Pauline Lynch, director of Secret Wrapped In Lead, as she reflects on what she’s learned.

Saturday 10th June

We are two weeks from beginning rehearsals and I am hopeful my bottleneck of activities has eased. My diary is looking relatively clear and I’m looking forward to spending some serious time with the script.

I’ve had so many meetings with production, sound and costume, so very many evening Zooms and late night WhatsApps, as well as the usual admin, I am tired.

But today I met with our composer, Jack Henderson.

We discussed sound, and had the opportunity to talk about the world of the play in depth — my favourite thing.

I love hearing other people’s ideas, sharing my own, and making new and exciting discoveries. I can’t wait to hear Jack’s music, particularly as he suggested something I found very exciting indeed.

As with almost everything in theatre, we won’t know it works until we get there, but I love risk, and daring, and Jack’s ideas certainly encompass that.

Gripping stories, in Scots.

Braw Clan's actors work far and wide, performing for companies like Shakespeare's Globe, the BBC, ITV and Netflix. But Clydesdale is our home. When we turn up to do a play in your village hall, you better believe we're going to make it a night to remember.
