Doing A Good Thing
Production Diary

Thursday 8th June
Prepping for this week’s workshops with Biggar Theatre Workshop and Biggar High School students.
Martin and I will run these so we had a quick Zoom to bring our workshopping brains together for the first time. We’ve spent two years getting to this point.
The Articles of Association, the OSCR charitable status, the applications – all the soul-destroying graft that typically lies outside of an artist’s interests, and in my case, also outside of my natural skill base.
When the email came through from Creative Scotland telling us we’d been successful, it felt like we’d climbed Everest.
Now I see we’d just made Base Camp.
It has been, and continues to be, a steep learning curve. But as I stand at my desk tonight, tending to the simple task of cutting out strips of paper with lines from Martin’s play on them, to share with dozens of people in workshops over the next couple of days, I feel so very sure that we’re doing a good thing. Now all we have to do is make sure our workshop participants have fun!
NB – workshops were great!

Gripping stories, in Scots.
Braw Clan's actors work far and wide, performing for companies like Shakespeare's Globe, the BBC, ITV and Netflix. But Clydesdale is our home. When we turn up to do a play in your village hall, you better believe we're going to make it a night to remember.
