Braw Clan’s new play, So Long, Wee Moon, stars Morven Blackadder and Chiara Sparkes as sisters Nancy and Wee Moon.

Morven, who made her professional debut as Primrose in last year’s Secret Wrapped In Lead, says she’s looking forward to playing a very different character. She says:

“Primrose and Wee Moon might seem similar on the surface, but Wee Moon has to live with what’s happening to her. She lives her own world but it’s because of what her daily life is like. It’s an escape.

I’m really excited about being back on stage again. I’m about to start training at the Royal Conservatoire, but I feel I’ll also learn so much from this play. Having done it once before, I know that adapting to each village hall is a challenge, but a great one. I also can’t wait to work with Chiara, Helen and everyone in the cast and creative team.”

This is the first time Chiara has worked in Clydesdale and she’s looking forward to playing Nancy.

“When I first read the play I instantly fell in love with her. She’s a bold dreamer and she goes on such a journey. Speaking Scots is a challenge but I’m excited about the process – learning new words, making mistakes, having a laugh and hopefully reaching a level of skill and comfort together with Morven and Helen.

I’m from Glasgow and don’t know this part of Scotland well, so it will be lovely to be in the hub of Clydesdale communities. There’s something so special about telling stories in the place they’re about. I hope the atmosphere we create in each hall will help the audience connect with this thrilling story.”
