Eight student actors from New College Lanarkshire joined the Crown of Straw cast this June. Taking part in three rehearsed readings of the play in Biggar, Crawford and Leadhills, the students played a range of roles in the production.

Braw Clan’s Creative Director, Clare Yuille, said:

We were delighted to welcome actors from New College’s HND Acting & Performance course into Crown of Straw. The play has been incredibly successful, with rakes of 5 star reviews from nearly 200 audience members.

Our student actors have made a huge contribution through singing, verse-speaking and playing a wide range of characters, and working with them has been a joy. They quickly became part of the company alongside our community and professional actors – we’re very impressed with them.”

Kirsty Stewart, who recently completed her second year at New College, said she and her friends have had enjoyed their time working with Braw Clan:

“This has been such a wonderful experience and I feel so grateful to have been a part of it. Even through a short period of time I have learned so much and would love to be involved again in the future.”
