Bloomsbury Publishes “So Long, Wee Moon” Script
Company News
The script of Braw Clan’s second play, So Long, Wee Moon, will be published by Bloomsbury this autumn.
The play is a gripping family drama set near Crawfordjohn in the 1920s. Award-winning writer Martin Travers said:
“As a playwright there’s nothing more satisfying than having a play published. It take the play to another level. Gives it a permanency. There’s something exciting, romantic and cool about a play in book-form. As a teenager, I always read plays. The big important plays of the 20th century – particularly American plays. Having Tennessee Williams in my school bag made me feel I had one foot in another world. An exotic and poetic world of possibility, longing, heartache and sometimes shocking cruelty. I read plays like other people read novels. Still do. That’s how I discovered the plays of Ena Lamont Stewart, Joe Corrie, Tom Murphy and Brian Friel. Playwrights I look up to. Playwrights who inspire me to keep writing.
Having my work published by Bloomsbury is a genuine thrill.
And it means that Braw Clan’s Scots language productions can be read all over Scotland and beyond. I think it is also import to say that if you buy a copy of the play when you come to see So Long, Wee Moon every penny of the money you pay goes directly to helping us keep the company going. Give it a a gift. Lend it to a pal. Or put it on your shelf and read it again when you start to miss Nancy, Wee Moon and Annie. They’ll always be there now. Like dragonflies held in amber.”
The script will be available in time for the tour of So Long, Wee Moon from 18th September.
