Bloomsbury To Publish Braw Clan’s First Play, “Secret Wrapped In Lead”

Company News

The script of Braw Clan’s first play, Secret Wrapped In Lead will be published by Bloomsbury this July.

Callan McCarthy, Commissioning Editor for plays, says:

“Secret Wrapped in Lead will be published into Methuen Drama’s Modern Plays series, in time for the Scottish tour in July 2023.

Martin’s talent for tightly woven dialogue is on display in this mysterious and intriguing one-act, based on an 1803 journal entry by Dorothy Wordsworth. Secret Wrapped in Lead has an exciting and unpredictable air of magic about it, cementing itself as an unmissable piece of Scots language theatre.”

Playwright Martin Travers says:

“I’m dead excited that Secret Wrapped In Lead is being published. It means so much to me that it’s Braw Clan’s first full production. Talk about a collector’s item!

“Having recently run workshops on the play for Biggar High School, I’m particularly keen to encourage as many young people as possible to see the show and pick up the script. The theme of teenagers being ripped apart by adults is, unfortunately, something that resonates strongly today.”

The script will be available to purchase when the play tours this July.
