Awards For All Funding Brings “Soup And A Story” to Braehead and Carnwath

Company News

Braw Clan’s flagship community project, Soup And A Story, has been granted funding by Awards For All Scotland for a second season this autumn and winter.

Following on from its hugely successful spring season funded by SSE Renewables and Clyde Wind Farm, Soup And A Story comes to Braehead and Carnwath from August.

Working in partnership with lunch clubs for older people, the project provides a warm welcome, a free lunch and a live performance of a Scots story by a professional actor.

Creative Producer Martin Travers says:

“Soup And A Story is very close to our hearts. The Awards For All funding allows us to bring this special kind of performance to two new communities, all through the winter. We can’t wait to share our love for Scots storytelling with people in Carnwath and Braehead.”

Audience members enjoyed readings from Robert McLellan’s Linmill Stories by Robin Laing, Michael Mackenzie and James Mackenzie earlier this year, plus a special appearance by Joyce Falconer.

Artistic Director Pauline Lynch says:

“The Linmill Stories received an incredibly warm response this spring, so we’re delighted to be introducing them to two new audiences. In the new season, we’ll be venturing a little deeper into Clydesdale as it was at the turn of the last century, as seen through the eyes of a young boy.”

Braw Clan's actors work far and wide, performing for companies like Shakespeare's Globe, the BBC, ITV and Netflix. But Clydesdale is our home. When we turn up to do a play in your village hall, you better believe we're going to make it a night to remember.
